When in doubt, wine it out.

Happy hump day! And most importantly… happy Wine Wednesday!

Bring on the whirlwind of holiday season/cold weather preparations (womp, womp). I’ve pulled out the wool sweaters and put away the tanks. Dry-cleaned the coats that have been in storage bins. Winterized the vehicle. Almost gathered everyone’s christmas gift wish list. Still trying to figure out the whereabouts for all the get-togethers.

The list goes on. But in the middle of the frenzy, I came across a gift I had received last Christmas. It was from a work gift exchange.. you know the ones where you put all the gifts in a pile, everyone picks a number, and chooses a gift in that order?

WELL. I picked a giant-fricken-wineglass!

How could I have forgotten about this gem and kept it packed away in a closet? Who knows. I DO know that this occurrence brought comic relief in a moment of vexation. It also offered a moment of reflection. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the stress and exertion surrounding this time of year.

Don’t forget the fun, the joy, and the little bit of magic. Feel happy and excited-you’ll be able to create the experience you want. It’s a time to learn about yourself. It’s a chance to get in touch with what makes you feel fulfilled. Find the love in the act of giving.

Also, see humor in irony. Like this wine glass. “Drink until your dreams come true”… right, in a glass that holds an entire bottle? Well if my dreams don’t actually come true, I’ll surely think they have. Thank you, anonymous gift giver, for the gift of hope!

So… I unboxed this puppy and filled it up with a tasty barolo!

2012 Rosa Dell’Olmo Barolo
Varietal: Nebbiolo
Piedmont, Italy
Dark cherry and plum flavor.
Tannic but nicely balanced.
Affordable and approachable.

Cheers! ‘Tis the season.
